July 2, 2025: Law enforcement officials attached to the Narcotics Branch of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) uncovered a stash of narcotics and a firearm during an intelligence-led operation at Crown Dam, Parika.

The operation, resulted in the recovery of a .45 pistol, a magazine containing 24 matching rounds of ammunition, and over 2,000 grams of illegal drugs hidden in a clump of bushes.

Police reported that two bulky plastic bags were discovered during the search. One bag contained multiple transparent parcels filled with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis, while the second held a small white bucket packed with transparent bags containing a whitish, cake-like substance believed to be cocaine. The same bucket also concealed the loaded firearm.

Upon weighing, the cannabis totalled 698 grams, while the suspected cocaine amounted to 1,386 grams, making a combined total of 2,084 grams of illegal substances seized.

Investigations into the origin of the firearm and drugs are ongoing, and no arrests have been reported at this time.
