An 18-year-old man was on Monday charged and remanded to prison for allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old.

Claudius James appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on February 22, 2022, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded a 15-year-old boy with intent to commit murder.

He was remanded to prison until March 21, 2022.

According to information, James and the complainant’s brother has an ongoing feud. However, on the day in question, James saw the complainant and the two of them got into a heated argument which led to a fight.

During the confrontation, James stabbed the teenager to his chest. The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he remains a patient suffering from a punctured lung.

The matter was then reported and following an investigation, James was arrested and charged.
