Man in viral video beating dog arrested by police

22-Year-Old Jonathan Layne of 605 West Ruimveldt Georgetown was on Saturday morning arrested by the police and will be charged for cruelty to animal. He will be placed before the court on Wednesday.

BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that the young man was arrested just after 10:00hrs Saturday morning with assistance from Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals personnel.

On Friday, this publication was among several others who shared a video where the man was seen in several videos beating and stringing the dog up in the air with a rope.

The operation to arrest the man was led by Police Sergeant Griffith a party of police from the Ruimveldt Police Station.

We were informed that the dog has since been taken in care by the GSPCA and is also expected to be examined by a vet.
