Juretha Fernandes Named APNU’s Prime Ministerial Candidate

Alliance For Change (AFC) Member of Parliament, Juretha Fernandes has been selected as the Prime Ministerial candidate for A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), as opposition dynamics continue to shift ahead of the 2025 General and Regional Elections.

Fernandes is expected to join APNU’s presidential candidate, Aubrey Norton, on the opposition slate.

Reportedly, the move effectively positions Fernandes as having crossed over to the People’s National Congress (PNC), the dominant party within APNU.

Her emergence comes amid earlier online speculation that fellow opposition MP Ganesh Mahipaul was being considered for the prime ministerial role.
