The highly anticipated Finals of the Guyana Police Force’s Annual Track and Field Athletics Championship will take place this Friday at the Leonora Track and Field Stadium on the West Coast of Demerara.

This year’s championship is especially significant as it coincides with the Guyana Police Force’s 185th anniversary.

In preparation for the Finals, athletes are competing in the ‘heats’ today and tomorrow. The events scheduled for today include the 100m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m medley relays, as well as the 5000m men’s race, 3000m women’s race, and the Long Jump for both men and women. These preliminary rounds are critical as they determine the finalists for Friday’s showdown.

Adding an international flair to the event, athletes from Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago are set to participate, enhancing the competitive spirit and camaraderie of the championship.

The Guyana Police Force’s Annual Track and Field Athletics Championship has always been a highlight on the sporting calendar, showcasing the athletic talents and physical prowess of the force’s members. This year promises to be even more spectacular with the inclusion of international competitors and the celebration of a historic milestone.

Stay tuned for more updates as the championship progresses and athletes vie for top honors in their respective events.
