Five low-income families from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) were presented keys to their brand new core homes today.
The families from Onderneeming and Lust-en-Rust, were presented the keys to new core homes by Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal.
Under the umbrella of the Adequate Housing and Urban Accessibility Programme (AHUAP), the Core Home initiative is set to elevate the living conditions of vulnerable families.
The keys were handed over to Mr. Enduko Glenmore, Ms. Nicola Thompson, Condica Eastman, Ms. Tricia DaSivia and Mr. Desmond Cheong.
In addition to receiving the keys to their new homes, beneficiaries also received their Certificates of Inspection. Each Core Home features two bedrooms, kitchen, and washroom facilities.
The construction of the homes are supervised by engineers from CH&PA’s Projects Department and staff of the Community Development Department to ensure they meet the specifications outlined by the IDB.
