Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha, is currently engaged in high-level meetings with a group of young people from the Essequibo Coast as the Government moves to roll out its Tunnel Ventilated Poultry Programme in the region.

The initiative forms part of a broader national push to modernise and expand agricultural production while creating sustainable opportunities for young people entering the sector.

During the engagement, Minister Mustapha also met with local farmers to advance discussions on the implementation of the brackish water shrimp project and a new onion cultivation programme earmarked for the Essequibo Coast.

Officials say approximately 36 small farmers are expected to benefit from phase one of the onion cultivation initiative.

The programme is aimed at boosting production, diversifying agricultural activity, and improving income-generating opportunities for farmers across the region.
