Driver Charged in Fatal Mon Repos Accident
Timothy Leroy Rajkumar, 28, of Lot 2380 Section ‘C’ Block X Great Diamond Street, East Bank Demerara, appeared in Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court today, in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on Friday, July 12, 2024.
The accident took place around 14:23 hrs on Mon Repos Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara, involving Motor-Lorry #GAE 4563, owned by J&R General Constructions Service INC, and Motor-Cycle #CK 6224, driven by 52-year-old Limwattie Lalijie of Lot 202 Area X Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.
The accident tragically resulted in the death of Limwattie Lalijie.
In court, Rajkumar faced the charge of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving. He was not required to plead to the charge, and after the application of the A.J.A., he pleaded not guilty.
Senior Magistrate Mrs. R. Liverpool remanded Rajkumar to Lusignan Prison until his next court appearance on August 12, 2024.
