A Police Sergeant found himself before a court of law on Thursday, charged with stealing a firearm from the very place that employs him, the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Sergeant Relando Sandy was released on $100,000 bail after pleading not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that between January 23 and 24, 2023, at Rabbit Walk, Georgetown, he stole a Glock 17 9mm pistol, which belongs to the Government of Guyana.

The Policeman appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. He was represented by Attorney-at-Law Patrice Henry.

The matter has been adjourned until June 13
