Cop Busted with 34.6 Kg of Cannabis

April 10 2025 – A significant drug bust was made Thursday morning, April 10, 2025, along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway as law enforcement officials uncovered a large quantity of suspected cannabis during an intelligence-led operation.
According to a police report, the operation led to the interception of a motor vehicle near Hauraruni, which was traveling westbound on the southern side of the highway.
The vehicle was reportedly being driven by 31-year-old Sherman Ferguson, who is a serving member of the Guyana Police Force.
A search of the vehicle revealed three large transparent plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis. The suspected narcotics were weighed in Ferguson’s presence, amounting to a total of 34.6 kilograms.
Ferguson was immediately cautioned and placed under arrest. He remains in custody as investigations continue into the matter.
