Assistant Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken who up to early this morning was functioning as the acting Top Cop, was moments ago confirmed in his position after taking the oath of office before His Excellency and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali.

Clifton Hicken has been serving the Cooperative Republic of Guyana for more than 30 years through the Guyana Police Force where he held several key positions and led some major and successful operations across the country.
Hicken is particularly known among his peers for the roles played during the crime wave between 2000 and 2007 while stationed at the Tactical Services Unit.
Commissioner Hicken is also the face of the Police Force Social Crime Prevention initiatives which were launched back in 2013 by then Top Cop Seelall Persaud.
BIG Smith News Watch and its associated brands would like to congratulate Mr. Clifton Anthony Hicken as Guyana’s Commissioner of Police.
You have worked hard, suffered career sabotage, stagnation, undermining and disloyalty throughout your policing career, Today, your appointment is testimony to the fact that hard work, dedication, commitment, professionalism and love for country finally pays off.
God’s time is always the right time and if God did not want you here, no politician’s will or ill-will could have defied what the almighty has ordained.
Continue to serve this country well.
