L-R: Dead Anita Mohan, Found Guilty Kevin Mohan

27-year-old Kevin Mohan was on Monday afternoon found guilty by a jury of murdering his aunt. The unanimous verdict was delivered before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the end of a trial at the Demerara High Court.

Mohan aka ‘Chuckie’ had initially denied the charge which stated that on September 4, 2016, at Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown, he murdered his aunt, Anita Mohan called ‘Sandra’, a vendor.

Throughout his trial, Mohan was represented by Attorney-at-law Damien Da Silva, while the case for the State was presented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave and Muntaz Ali.

This was Kevin Mohan’s second trial for the murder; his first trial ended in a hung jury.

Anita Mohan, 48, was found lying in a pool of blood on the lower flat of her home located at Lot 315 Cummings Lodge.

It was reported that the woman was struck to the head with a rolling pin and stabbed.

An autopsy gave her cause of death as multiple injuries.
