Brickdam Police Station fire: Race on to save documents/ammo

Police are removing documents and ammunition as fire rages through the Brickdam Police Station and lock ups on Saturday morning.

No one could speak to the origin of the fire at this time but the Guyana Fire Service is on the scene. Onlookers observed that firefighters have their work cut out for them as they try to contain the fire to the two buildings.

The main police station is decades old but the lock ups were re-constructed a few years ago.

Up to a few moments ago, the Guyana Power and Light Company was yet to cut electricity to the area. Curious onlookers continue to gather as the police are erecting barricades around the area of the fire scene.
