APNU+AFC ‘screwed you without grease’- PM Phillips tells black voters

“They make promises to you. They got your vote, and when they got into office, they screwed you. That’s a harsh term, but I have to use it. They screwed you without grease.”
This, according to Prime Minister and PPP/C
Prime Ministerial Candidate, Brigadier (ret’d) Mark Phillips, as he directly appealed to African-Guyanese voters, during a mass campaign rally in Bath Settlement Region # 5, on Sunday August 10, 2025.
“To my fellow African-Guyanese… when they come to you, tell them you’re not afraid, you’re voting for development,” PM Phillips said, rejecting what he deemed broken promises and harmful policies under the former coalition.
“They made promises to you, got your vote, and when they got into office… they failed to deliver.”
Addressing some of the opposition’s latest campaign pledges — including raising the income tax threshold to $400,000 and offering free electricity and water allowances — PM Phillips argued they could not be trusted, noting they had previously imposed VAT on those same services.
“How could you vote for these people? The only vote you could vote for them, is to vote them out.”
According to PM Phillips, “I’m African-Guyanese too… but all of you here are my brothers and sisters….all of us, brothers and sisters in development together.”
