Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha yesterday met with farmers from Enmore and surrounding communities, reassuring them of the government’s commitment to developing the agriculture sector.

The Minister highlighted the need for produce and informed the farmers that alternate systems are being put in place to ensure continued farming activities in the area.

The meeting came days after H.E. President Dr. Irfaan Ali met with the residents who expressed concerns about developmental works that are ongoing in the village and how the farmers would be affected.

Minister Mustapha told farmers that lands will be made available and that a team from the GLDA, NAREI, NDIA, and GuySuCo will be working to identify lands for the farmers.

He also said that farmers will now be exposed to a more scientific way of planting as shadehouses will be made available by the ministry. NDIA engineers will also be working to enhance drainage in the farming area.

Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal and Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar were also a part of the visiting delegation.
