GRA takes Atlantic Fuels to court over false declaration

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has commenced legal proceedings against Atlantic Fuels for making a false declaration to the tax agency.

According to the particulars of the offence, on November 12, 2020 at GRA headquarters on Camp Street, Georgetown, Atlantic Fuels caused to be made and subscribed a false declaration contrary to the Customs Act.

A representative of the fuel company has already been summoned to appear in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on January 04, 2021 to answer to the complaint made by Commissioner-General of GRA Godfrey Statia.

Atlantic Fuels Inc is owned by Dr Richard Van West Charles, former Chief Executive of the Guyana Water Inc. The company was granted its import/export license in 2016.
