Homestretch Avenue to close for Irfaan’s Inauguration

President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali

Motorists are advised that they should avoid attempting to access Homestretch Avenue on Saturday, August 08, 2020, from Vlissengen Road or Mandela Avenue between 07:00hrs to 13:00hrs.

The force is advising that only VIPs and VVIPs would be allowed to access Home Stretch Avenue to make their way to the National Culture Centre for the inauguration.

All other persons would be expected to use the Hadfield Street entrance to access the facility.

Irfaan Ali was declared president-Elect last week Sunday by the chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission and later that day took the oath of office which was administered to him by Chancellor of the Judiciary acting Yonette Edwards-Cummings.

Immediately after his swearing-in, he appointed Mark Phillips, his running mate for the March 02, 2020, General and Regional Elections as his Prime Minister.

Anil Nandlall, Bharrat Jagdeo and Gail Jail Teixeira were also on that day appointed Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Vice President and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance respectively.
