One dead; two critical as canter slams into Garbage truck

A garbage collector who resides at Lenora West Coast Demerara and employed with Pooran Brothers Garbage Disposal Service is dead and two other adult males are in very serious conductions.

This comes after a canter truck slammed into the back of the garbage truck severing the leg of Zabeer Khan and killing him on the spot while the two occupants of the canter consisting of the driver and a passenger have been rushed for medical attention.

The accident took placed in the Mont Rose Public Road on the other side of the carriageway from another man who lost his life two Saturdays ago in a five-vehicle accident.

When BIG Smith News Watch arrived at the scene this morning, the body of the deceased lay on the roadway covered even as paramedics were stabilizing the other two victims suspected to be the driver and passenger of the canter.

The Guyana Fire Service was also required to show up and cut parts of the canter to free the two men who were pinned inside even as the severed leg of the victim was fasten to the front of the smashed in canter.

One man said that the truck was parked well into the corner of the road when the incident took place. Our initial examination of the scene also proved that there were no skid marks leading to the impact point were evident.

BIG Smith News Watch was told that the truck would usually commence its Mont Rose garbage collection from the very location and at the time of the crash, Khan was removing a drum from within the garbage truck when he was hit.
