DEAD: Police Constable Jodhan and his ill-fated motorcycle

Thirty-year-old Police Constable Navindra Jodhan who was involved in a motorcycle crash on June 14 along the Corentyne Public Road died today while still receiving medical treatment. Jodhan was attached to the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam.

On the day in question, just after 16:00hrs, at No. 60 Public Road Corentyne Berbice, the rank was riding his CBR motorcycle CJ 8224 when he collided with Malchan Ramdanny who died on the spot.

Police reports then, stated that Ramdanny made a dash to cross from one side of the road to the other after a car passed him. Unfortunately, the motorcycle which was riding closely behind the car and at a fast rate of speed collided with Ramdanny as he ended up its (the motorcycle’s) path.

As a result, both of them were flung from their respective mode of transportation. Both men were were picked up and rushed for medical attention where Ramdanny was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors on duty while the police constable was treated and admitted in a serious condition.

Today’s death of Jodhan came as a shock to his colleagues who were expecting him to recover from the injuries sustained in the crash despite being on a life support machine.

On Sunday another police rank died in Essequibo after he lost control of his vehicle and collided with several spare parts and parked vehicles which were along the roadway at the time.
