DEVELOPING: two weeks countrywide school closure amidst COVID-19

Education Minister Nicolette Henry

The Ministry of Education of Guyana on Friday announced that with effect from Monday, March 16, 2020, all schools will remain closed for a period of two weeks.

The ministry in a statement noted that during the period of the closure, further guidance and assessments would be done and provided to the public.

The closures are a direct result of the Coronavirus which Guyana is now seeking to monitor after the first case and death was recorded two days ago.

Contact could be made with the Ministry of Education on telephone numbers 226 1175 or the Public Health Ministry on 227 4986 during the hours 08:00-16:00hrs or on 624 3076 between 16:30 and 20:00hrs.
