La Parfaite Harmonie murder suspect captured

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing 17-year-old construction worker Akerm Bannister during a confrontation at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, on Sunday, October 18.
The suspect was reportedly captured a short while ago after fleeing the scene of the deadly incident.
According to reports, Bannister and several other persons were involved in an argument during a card game when the dispute escalated into violence.
During the confrontation, a 26-year-old man allegedly chopped the 30-year-old suspect on his left hand. The attacker was also injured in the altercation.
Bannister reportedly became involved in the fight and was allegedly stabbed three times by the 30-year-old man.
The teenager and the 26-year-old were subsequently rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where Bannister succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect allegedly fled after the stabbing but has since been apprehended by police.
Investigations are ongoing.
