Cops ID robber who fled after cashier snatched up his gun

Police have reportedly identified a man who allegedly robbed a Linden gas station before fleeing after a female cashier seized his firearm and turned it on him.

The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Alex Pickering, also known as “Blacka,” who reportedly last resided at Victory Valley, Wismar.

According to sources, Pickering was released from prison approximately two weeks ago after being convicted of a similar offence. His encounters with the law reportedly date back at least a decade.

The latest incident allegedly occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, September 4, at Hinds Gas Station in Linden. Pickering reportedly entered the establishment, pointed a pistol at a female cashier and demanded money. The cashier subsequently handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police sources said the situation took an unexpected turn when Pickering placed the firearm on the counter while attempting to collect additional money. The cashier reportedly seized the weapon and pointed it at the robber, prompting him to flee the station.

The entire incident was reportedly captured on the gas station’s security cameras and the footage is expected to assist investigators as the probe continues.
