The Government of Guyana, through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Guyana Police Force,  launched the new Online Guyana Passport Application and Appointment System, a move officials say marks a significant step forward in the modernization of passport services and the digital transformation of public service delivery.

The new digital platform allows applicants to create an online account, fill passport applications electronically, provide the required information, and schedule passport appointments from the convenience of their homes or offices.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the launch forms part of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s continued commitment to digitalizing public services and delivering more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centered government services across Guyana.

The ministry said the Online Guyana Passport Application and Appointment System is designed to improve efficiency, reduce long lines and waiting times, minimize administrative delays, and provide a more streamlined and transparent passport application process.

Key features of the new system include online account registration and secure user authentication, electronic passport application submission, convenient online appointment scheduling, email notifications and appointment confirmations, and reduced processing bottlenecks and administrative delays.

Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond said, “The introduction of the Online Guyana Passport Application and Appointment System marks a major milestone in our efforts to modernize government services. This platform will provide citizens with a more convenient, efficient, and user-friendly way to access passport services while reducing the need for lengthy in-person processes.”

The ministry noted that the platform has been designed with security and user experience as key priorities, ensuring that applicants’ personal information is protected while providing a seamless digital experience.

Citizens are encouraged to access the official portal, create an account, and follow the required steps to begin the process of scheduling an appointment.

The Guyana Police Force is also encouraging applicants to familiarize themselves with the new system and take advantage of the enhanced services now available online.
