A 31-year-old Venezuelan national has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a North West District man and has been remanded to prison.
The accused, Jose Armando Alsena Coll, a welder residing at Sheriff Street, Georgetown, is alleged to have been involved in the death of 30-year-old Rodwell La Cruz, called “Kabaloo,” of Warapoka Village, Region One.
The charge of murder, laid contrary to common law, stems from an incident reported on March 10, 2026, at the Iwokrama Protected Area along the Siparuni River in Region Eight.
Coll was arrested on May 28 and subsequently charged on June 2, 2026.
He appeared via Zoom before Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court, where the indictable charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was denied bail.
He was remanded to prison until June 26, 2026, when the matter is scheduled for further proceedings.
