Cuban nationals granted bail for humam trafficking

Two Cuban nationals have been charged with offences under the Trafficking in Persons Act following their recent arrest by authorities.
The accused, Raudel Valverde and Yenifer María Quevedo Millán, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 29, 2026, where the charges were read to them.
Valverde was charged with unlawful withholding of documents and recruiting by force or coercion for the purpose of exploitation, while Quevedo Millán was charged with harbouring for the purpose of exploitation.
Bail was granted to Valverde in the sum of $150,000 for the unlawful withholding of documents charge and $750,000 for the trafficking in persons recruitment charge.
Quevedo Millán was granted $750,000 bail for the trafficking in persons harbouring charge.
As part of their bail conditions, both accused are required to report every Friday to the Trafficking in Persons Unit at CID Headquarters.
The matter was adjourned to June 19, 2026.
