PAS Guyana Inc. has expanded its footprint in the country’s logistics industry with the opening of a first-of-its-kind off-port bonded warehouse facility along the Rome section of the Heroes Highway.

The new facility is expected to significantly enhance the movement of cargo by offering a more streamlined, centralized process for documentation, customs clearance and collection.

Company officials indicated that the investment reflects a strategic push toward improving efficiency, reliability and service delivery in response to growing economic activity.

Vice President Shridat Narine described the development as transformative for the sector, noting that the facility provides a one-stop location where clients can complete multiple stages of the logistics process without the delays typically associated with traditional port operations.

The warehouse features secure access, extensive space for heavy-duty trucking and a fully weather-protected environment. By relocating operations away from congested river ports, PAS Guyana aims to reduce turnaround times and ease long-standing bottlenecks affecting cargo handling.

President of the Guyana Customs Brokers Association, Colin Moore, welcomed the initiative, pointing to noticeable improvements in efficiency, including significantly reduced processing times for customers.

PAS Guyana’s expansion has been supported by regional and international partnerships, along with continued investment in technology. Its logistics platform incorporates barcode processing and RFID tracking systems to improve cargo visibility and transparency.

The company has also announced plans to introduce its MyPAS mobile application, which will allow customers to track shipments, upload documents and manage cargo remotely.

Through its network, including PAS Cargo USA and global freight alliances spanning more than 190 countries, the company is positioning itself to meet increasing demand across the oil and gas, commercial and industrial sectors.

Government officials have also highlighted the development as a sign that national policies aimed at strengthening trade and transport infrastructure are gaining traction. Member of Parliament Thandi McAllister, who serves as Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation, noted that ongoing policy efforts are helping to position Guyana as an emerging regional transport hub.

The new facility is designed to tackle persistent challenges such as congestion and delays at traditional ports, while introducing modern infrastructure and a more efficient, customer-focused approach to cargo handling.
