The Ministry of Natural Resources has addressed a video circulating on Facebook, published by Action News, which shows individuals in a vehicle allegedly discarding garbage into a canal.

In a statement, the ministry clarified that the vehicle featured in the video is not registered to the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) nor to any agency operating under the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship, accountability, and responsible behaviour, noting that these principles align with Guyana’s national development and sustainability goals.

Authorities continue to encourage the public to dispose of waste responsibly and to report environmental violations through the appropriate channels.

See full statement below;

“The Ministry of Natural Resources has taken note of a video circulating on Facebook,
published by Action News, which purports that individuals travelling in a vehicle were
seen discarding garbage into a canal.

The ministry wishes to make it clear that the vehicle shown in the video is not registered
to the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) or to any of the agencies that fall under the
purview of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

We remain committed to promoting environmental stewardship, accountability, and
responsible behaviour in keeping with national development and sustainability
objectives.”
