October 29 2024 – In a major announcement today, Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, revealed that Phase One infrastructure work will soon begin on a new housing development at Tract A & B – 4 Miles, Potaro-Konawaruk Road in Mahdia.
The announcement was made during a housing outreach at Campbelltown Benab, where local residents gathered to learn more about housing opportunities in the region.
Joining Minister Croal were Amerindian Affairs Minister Pauline Sukhai, Ministry of Housing and Water Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen, Central Housing and Planning Authority CEO Sherwyn Greaves, Chief Development Planner Germene Stewart, as well as regional officials and ministry representatives.
During the outreach, it was confirmed that 309 residential lots are now available for allocation, aiming to address the housing needs of Mahdia and its neighboring communities. Assuring residents of the government’s commitment to accessible housing, Minister Croal noted that the first phase of infrastructure work, budgeted at approximately $1 billion, will commence in the coming months. By mid-2025, allottees are expected to begin accessing their plots in this new development.
