Zaheer Khaleel, the driver of minibus BAB 5549 who was previously charged and remanded, has returned to the Diamond Magistrate’s Court in connection with multiple traffic offences.

On Thursday, February 5, 2026, Khaleel appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess, where he pleaded guilty to Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was fined GYD $200,000 for the offence.

The following day, Friday, February 6, 2026, Khaleel was charged with Dangerous Driving in relation to an incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Fourteenth Avenue, Diamond. He again appeared before the court, where the charge was read and he entered a guilty plea.

However, the parties involved in the accident informed the court that they did not intend to offer evidence against him.

As a result, the dangerous driving matter was dismissed.
