Police Identify Cemetery Barrel Victim

Police have identified the man whose decomposing body was discovered in a barrel at the Le Repentir Cemetery on Christmas Day as 39-year-old Levi Williams, a vagrant.
According to Police Commander Simon McBean, Williams was identified by his mother.
The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition, and investigators are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
On Thursday, December 25, police ranks responded to reports and discovered the corpse inside a barrel between the Louisa Row and St. Stephen Street area of the cemetery.
The remains were subsequently transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Police said the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death remain unclear.
As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives are examining security camera footage from areas surrounding the cemetery in an effort to determine how the body came to be there and to identify any suspects.
Investigations are continuing.
