A 22-year-old labourer from St. Ignatius Village, Central Rupununi, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to an assault charge.

Teles Forde appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

He was charged with Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm.

Forde entered a guilty plea and was handed a six-month prison sentence.

The conviction underscores the court’s continued stance on addressing acts of violence within the community.
