A 34-year-old ambulance driver from Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, has been fined and sentenced to prison after admitting to a cybercrime offence.

Lorian Toney, who was arrested on September 25, 2025, was charged under the Cybercrime Act of 2018 for using a computer system to humiliate, harass, and cause substantial emotional distress to Maxine Hendricks.

Toney appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, where she entered a guilty plea.

She was subsequently fined $1,000,000 GYD and sentenced to one year’s imprisonment.

The case marks another enforcement of the Cybercrime Act as authorities continue to address online harassment and abuse.
