Cops probe schoolgirl’s disappearance

Police are searching for 14-year-old Aishwarya George, who was reported missing on Thursday from her parents’ home at Cuffy Dam, Friendship, East Bank Demerara.
Her mother, Teshana Singh, told BIG Smith News Watch that Aishwarya, a student of Friendship Secondary School, was at home because of an injured leg.
Singh said she last spoke with her daughter by telephone around midday on Thursday.
“She call me and ask if I could pick up a drink and a Kiss cake ( for her).”
However, when Singh arrived home and called out for the teenager, she received no response.
The worried mother said she searched the family’s duck pen but could not find her daughter. She then entered the house, where she became alarmed after noticing two broken glass bottles scattered across the floor and no sign of Aishwarya.
According to Singh, none of her daughter’s belongings, including her schoolbag and other clothing, appeared to be missing.
She said Aishwarya had never run away from home and fears that the teenager may have been taken against her will.
“I begging whoever got my daughter, to let her come home.”
Singh said no one in the community had reported seeing the missing girl.
The family subsequently contacted the police, and relatives and investigators remained up late Thursday attempting to determine the teenager’s whereabouts.
The family lives in a farming community, and their home is located some distance from their nearest neighbour, adding to the family’s concern as the search continues.
