GAS STATION BOMBING: More bombings and deaths were planned- Terrorist tells police

October 28 2025

Police have arrested the main suspect in Sunday night’s deadly explosion at the Mobil Gas Station on Regent and King Streets, Georgetown, which claimed the life of six-year-old Soraya Bourne and left four others injured.

According to a police report, acting on intelligence, a team of officers led by a Superintendent on Tuesday swiftly tracked and apprehended Daniel Alexander Ramirez Peodomo, a Spanish-speaking foreign national, at Vergenoegen Sideline Dam, East Bank Essequibo. The suspect was wanted by the Guyana Police Force for terrorism.

Authorities confirmed that Peodomo is now in custody and assisting investigators. His arrest came less than 48 hours after a Wanted Bulletin and a $5 million reward were issued for information leading to his capture — underscoring what police described as a “decisive and coordinated response.”

Earlier, detectives recovered clothing believed to have been worn by the suspect during the commission of the crime. The items were retrieved from a location in Region Three after being discarded.

Discarded clothing found by the police, which the perpetrator was wearing at the time of the incident.

Investigators continue to examine the blast site, where extensive damage was observed to the Mobil minimart, fuel pumps, nearby businesses, and parts of the High Court. Forensic experts have collected several fragments and samples to determine the bomb’s composition, with preliminary assessments suggesting it may have involved a C-4 explosive device.

The tragic explosion injured seven people, including Ashmini Dial (28), Andre McRae (55), Jenica Hooper (27), Ikeal Causeway (25), Rashad Lord (8), and Sadiya McClintock (11).

Police investigations remain ongoing as the Force works to determine the full extent of the attack and any potential accomplices.
