CANU Warns Public of Dangerous Narcotics Packaged to Resemble Candy

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) has issued a statement, alerting the public to a disturbing new trend in drug trafficking — narcotics being packaged to look like candy or snacks, apparently designed to attract children and unsuspecting individuals.

In a recent operation, CANU officers seized a quantity of these deceptively wrapped narcotics. The packaging featured bright colours, cartoon-style graphics, and playful imagery, resembling popular children’s treats.

Authorities believe this tactic is a deliberate attempt by traffickers to disguise the drugs as harmless sweets, increasing the risk of accidental consumption, particularly among minors.

CANU is urging parents, teachers, and guardians to be extra vigilant and to carefully inspect any unfamiliar or unusually packaged items that children may come across, noting that these substances are extremely dangerous and can cause serious harm or even death if ingested.

The Unit reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding citizens, especially children, through continued enforcement efforts, public awareness campaigns, and the disruption of drug trafficking networks nationwide.
