September 30, 2025 – Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at around 00:20 hrs today along the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara.

The accident involved a white motor car, PAC 9262, driven by a 26-year-old Police Lance Corporal stationed at the Ogle Police Outpost, and a male pedestrian known only as “Soath”. The pedestrian’s full name, age, and address are yet to be confirmed.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was heading west along the northern drive lane of the southern carriageway when the pedestrian reportedly ran across the road from south to north, directly into the car’s path. The left front of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing him to fall onto the roadway and sustain severe injuries.

He was quickly picked up in an unconscious state and transported by ambulance to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he later succumbed to his injuries. His body is currently at the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.

A breathalyser test conducted on the driver showed no trace of alcohol, but he has since been placed under close arrest as investigations continue.
