Two men—one a DJ and the other a music selector—are expected to be formally charged today in connection with a sexual assault incident that allegedly occurred at Raghoo’s Bar on the Soesdyke Public Road earlier this month.

The accused have been identified as Leon Defreitas, a 36-year-old DJ from Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, and Ryan Rajnarine, a 30-year-old office assistant and music selector from Soesdyke Back Road.

According to Police, both men are scheduled to appear at the Friendship Magistrate’s Court today (Monday), where charges related to the July 13 incident will be laid.

According to the Guyana Police Force, legal advice from the Police Legal Advisor recommended that the duo be charged with inciting Barry Sullivan, a man for whom a wanted bulletin has already been issued, to engage in sexual penetration of a woman without her consent at the popular entertainment spot.

The matter has sparked public interest, and police have indicated that further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
