Security Guard Remanded for Robbing Fantasy Gaming Lounge

Rakameem Nicholas, the 21-year-old former Castle Security Services guard accused of staging a $13.1 million armed robbery at Giftland Mall’s Fantasy Gaming Lounge, was on Monday brought before the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts.

He appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs to answer multiple serious charges.

Nicholas, who was recently captured after nearly three weeks on the run, was formally charged with two counts of discharging a loaded firearm with intent—contrary to Section 55A of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.

He is accused of discharging his service weapon on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Cassie Benjamin and Raywat Sankar at the Fantasy Gaming Lounge, with intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or cause grievous bodily harm.

In addition, he was charged with simple larceny for allegedly stealing a 9mm Glock pistol, serial number BFVU 468—valued at $450,000—along with 17 live 9mm rounds valued at $3,230, all property of Castle Security Services.

Although it was widely reported that Nicholas made off with $13.1 million from the business, no charge related to the theft of the money was brought against him on Monday.

Nicholas, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was represented by attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva during the proceedings.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Gibbs remanded Nicholas to prison.

The matter was adjourned to August 19 for report and disclosure.
