Drivers Briefed on Road Rules at Madewini

As part of ongoing efforts to promote safer roads under the 2024/2025 theme “Do the Right Thing,” the Guyana Police Force conducted a roadside refresher session for drivers along the Madewini Police Outpost on Wednesday, July 2.

Between 16:50 hrs and 17:22 hrs, Inspector Scott, Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Sub-Division #3, Timehri, and Woman Constable Cumberbatch (No. 25413) of the Timehri Police Outpost engaged several drivers in a brief but impactful lecture on key traffic safety measures.

Topics discussed included:
Zero tolerance for speeding
Prohibition of alcohol consumption while driving
Adherence to the “Five C’s” of defensive driving
Proper maintenance of motor vehicles
Ensuring the safety of passengers
Avoiding overloading
Observing double yellow line rules
Restrictions on window tints
Maintaining a tidy appearance as a driver
Ensuring vehicle identification marks are visible
Obeying lawful instructions from police officers
Drivers were given the opportunity to ask questions, which were addressed by the officers. According to reports, participants expressed satisfaction with the information shared and the interactive format of the session.
The initiative forms part of a broader campaign by the Guyana Police Force to enhance public awareness and reduce traffic violations across the country.
