Raul Binand Remanded for Kitty Drug Bust

June 13 2025
A major drug trafficking case is unfolding following the seizure of nearly 22 kilograms of cocaine during a Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) operation earlier this week.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, CANU officers, acting on intelligence, intercepted a motorcar along David Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of several parcels containing a whitish powdery substance. The suspected narcotics were tested and confirmed to be cocaine, weighing a total of 21.972 kilograms.
The driver, identified as Raul Binand, was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
On Friday, June 13, Binand appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied, and he was remanded to prison until July 11, 2025.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing as CANU continues its efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks across the country.
