May 6, 2025 – Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, convened a strategic meeting this morning with senior officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC), the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), and the Guyana Gold Board (GGB).

The meeting focused on reviewing recent outreach exercises conducted by the agencies in several mining and logging districts across the country. These outreach activities were aimed at engaging directly with stakeholders, addressing challenges in the field, and assessing the effectiveness of ongoing initiatives within the sector.

The discussions emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous engagement with communities and industry operators to ensure that the natural resources sector remains efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all stakeholders. The outreach also provided valuable insights into on-the-ground realities, helping to shape future policy directions and operational strategies.

Minister Bharrat has reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the performance of the natural resources sector through regular stakeholder interaction and institutional collaboration. The meeting highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen regulatory oversight within the forestry, mining, and gold sectors.
