March 20, 2025 – The Commissioner’s T20 Cricket Competition saw dominant performances on Tuesday, as Region 5 and Headquarters secured their first victories in this year’s tournament.

Playing at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, Region 5 posted an imposing total of 199 runs in their allotted 20 overs against GPF Academy. Shemroy Barrington led the charge with 73 runs, while Crisean Grant (49), Titus Webster (31), and Lennox Williams (21) added valuable contributions.

In response, GPF Academy struggled in their chase and was bowled out for 93 runs in 16.2 overs. Grant starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 17 runs in 3 overs, while Williams picked up 3 for 13 and Dunston McKelman claimed 2 for 19.

Meanwhile, in Rose Hall, Canje, Berbice, Region 6 suffered a crushing 156-run defeat to defending champions, Headquarters.

After winning the toss, Region 6 elected to field, but Headquarters made them regret the decision, racking up 200 runs in 20 overs. Pernell London led the charge with 45 runs, followed by Kevon Boodie (42) and Kishan Ramkaran (39). Captain Ameer Mohamed anchored the innings with an unbeaten 22.

Chasing a target of 201, Region 6 collapsed spectacularly, managing only 45 runs in 11 overs. Ramkaran and Williams both took 3 wickets each, ensuring Headquarters secured an emphatic victory.

As the 2025 Commissioner’s T20 Cricket Competition progresses, both Region 5 and Headquarters have stamped their authority, setting the stage for intense matchups ahead.
