Police are investigating the death of 54-year-old Deryck Sattan-Persaud, also known as “Chowmein Man,” who was found unresponsive at Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Sattan-Persaud, who resided at Lot 102 Second Street, Industry, East Coast Demerara, was discovered embedded in the grillwork of a fence.

The incident unfolded when a 64-year-old brush cutter operator, who was weeding the yard around noon, was approached by a man known only as “Leo,” asking for assistance in removing Sattan-Persaud from the fence.

Emergency services were called, and a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation pronounced Sattan-Persaud dead at the scene.

Reports reaching BIG Smith News Watch suggest that Sattan-Persaud may have fallen from a mango tree, impaling himself on the fence.

The Crime Laboratory team from CID Headquarters processed the scene, and efforts are underway to locate the individual known as “Leo.”

Sattan-Persaud’s body has been taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a postmortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
