Stafrei Alexander and Owen Belfield– the two men who were on trial for the murder of Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) resident, Richard Remington– have been found unanimously guilty by a 12-person jury.

Alexander, also known as “Ratty” and “Mad Dog”, and Belfield murdered Remington between February 9 and 12, 2015 at Wismar, Linden.

They were on trial for the capital offence before Demerara High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds. Following the guilty verdicts Friday, the convicts were further remanded to prison until April 22 when they will be sentenced.

During their trial, they were represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Thompson while State Counsel Seeta Bishundial appeared for the prosecution.

Reports state that the decomposed remains of Remington were found in a clump of bushes along a track in the vicinity of Matthews Lane in Christianburg/ Cholmondeley Hill, Linden.

Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh had testified that Remington was shot twice to his right-side temple. The forensic pathologist gave the man’s cause of death as gunshot injuries to the head.
