Male Friend to be Charged with Murder of Mahaica Accountant

Nearly seven months after the gruesome murder of accountant Choormanie Tulsie, a male friend of the victim is set to be charged with her murder.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Mahaica Magistrates’ Court today.

Tulsie, 38, was discovered dead on November 22, 2023, in her Unity, Mahaica, East Coast home.

Her body was found on the floor of her two-storey house, with a knife lodged in her throat and a piece of cloth stuffed in her mouth.

Despite the violent nature of the crime, nothing was reported stolen from the scene, leading Tulsie’s sister to suggest that the perpetrator was someone known to her.

Following the murder, police detained at least two suspects, including the close friend now formally charged. Authorities also collected DNA samples as part of their investigation.

The court appearance marks a significant development in a case that has gripped the community for months.
