The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International is currently hosting it’s first regional workshop in Guyana on the Guyana/Suriname Basin: Strategic Development of Resources During the Energy Transition.

Presentations over the two-day event will focus on advances and lessons learnt in technology and subsurface evaluation along with sustainable development.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Martin Pertab, Head of the Local Content Secretariat, addressed the gathering on behalf of the Minister of Natural Resources.

He relayed the Government’s support for engagements such as this, which promote the sharing of ideas and best practices towards a more efficient and reliable sector. Also addressing the forum was Ms. Marissa Foster, a Technical Officer within the Ministry’s Petroleum Management Programme, who serves as the Chairman for the Guyana Section of SPE.
