The World Table Tennis Championships is set to commence on May 20 in South Africa, and Guyanese duo Shemar Britton and Christopher Franklin are competitors in the Men’s Double section.

The pair is expected to play against Australian Lee YONGHUN and Dixon Xavier in the men’s double Round of 64.

The BIG Smith News Watch was able to reach out a spokesperson to the athlete, who explained the athletes have yet to hear from the President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association, they are both still in Guyana at this time.

He explained that the athletes have returned with the hope of playing the world championship, and while one of the athletes was scheduled for training in California, the opportunity had presented itself for him to represent Guyana at the upcoming games, which is scheduled to begin in approximately two days.

Player Shemar Britton currently ranks 387th in the world, while Christopher Franklin ranks 538th, recently moving up from 1750th place.
