Accomplice in businessman’s murder nabbed while fleeing to Suriname

Police are a step closer to solving the murder of businessman Shimron Adams with the arrest of an Independence Boulevard youth on Thursday, who is believed to have aided Andrew Ridley, called ‘AIDS Man,’ in the Boxing day robbery and killing.
Akelow Marshall, 20, was nabbed at Springlands, Corentyne, allegedly while attempting to flee to Suriname.
The girlfriend of the slain businessman has identified Marshall and Ridley as the gunmen who robbed and killed Adams at his D’urban Street business place.

Police are conducting ballistic tests on Taurus pistol that was recovered from Ridley’s residence. They have also swabbed Ridley’s hands for gunpowder residue.
Just last month, police issued an arrest warrant for Ridley in connection with the November 11, 2022 gunning down of Laing Avenue resident Dexter McFarlene.
In her statement, Adams’ girlfriend, who is in custody, said that her lover who is Ridley, robbed and killed Adams after learning that she and Adams were having an affair.
She alleged that on December 22, Ridley saw several text messages, as well as photographs of her and Adams and told her that he would rob Adams.
She claimed that despite her pleas, the lover insisted he would rob Adams and also kept her phone.
On Boxing Day, he returned her phone. That night, she was at Adams’ D’urban Street establishment when she allegedly saw the lover and another man, known as ‘Akelo’, enter the premises through a shutter.
She claimed that the men, both carrying handguns, allegedly ordered her and Adams to lie on the ground. They then relieved Adams of a gold band and gold finger ring.
Ridley allegedly then told Adams, “You does (expletive) she, you going and (expletive) she.”
The lover then grabbed a ‘side bag’ that Adams was carrying and a scuffle ensued during which he shot Adams to his abdomen. Adams was pronounced dead at the hospital.
