Quiet but loud; the LED Screens along the East Bank Demerara

There are four bright LED screens along the East Bank Demerara mounted at three strategic locations, namely Huston, Diamond, and Peter’s Hall in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge. The investment is said to be just under One Million Guyana Dollars.

The screens are silent in sound but loud in their graphics and video content which ranges from public service announcements, client advertisements, and real-time viewing of the traffic flow at areas the screens are mounted.

At an official launch of the screens last Saturday afternoon, it was announced that screens will also be mounted along the East Coast Demerara and in West Demerara, as the company, Pixel Guyana Inc. seeks to broaden the sharing of information through advanced technologies. The screens are also equipped with traffic Cameras.

Leonard Gildarie, Managing Director of Pixel Guyana Inc. told a gathering on Saturday that there were many trials and errors coupled with other challenges as they sought to roll out the technology along the East Bank Demerara.

He explained that the screens can also carry live streaming activities in addition to switching to the ads of clients. A demonstration of that process was provided for those who were present at Saturday’s launch. The screens are 18 X 10 Feet in diameter and are switched on at  05:00hrs daily and turned off at 23:00hrs.

In addition to pushing harmonious messages, and paid advertisements, the screens will also provide critical public service announcements and tips.

Delivering the Feature Address at the launching was Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar. The minister explained that with the position Guyana is in and the direction it’s heading, these sorts of technology are necessary. He pointed to the projected growth of 57 percent which Guyana’s economy is expected to witness.
