CANU snatch Lisa Ramnarine for ramming cocaine in religious items for export

ARRESTED BY CANU: LISA RAMNARINE

Agents from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit on Tuesday snatched Lisa Ramnarine after a package destined for export with her name as the sender, had cocaine concealed inside of it. The cocaine to be shipped was hidden in Hindu Religious Items.

A release from CANU indicated that the unit acted on intelligence it received and moved to the DHL Guyana Office at 50 E Fifth Street, Alberttown Georgetown where they proceed to located the package containing a Hindu Havan Kund, as well as other religious items.

Upon examining the items, it was discovered that there was a hidden compartment within the Kund, which was suspected to contain narcotics.

Further examinations determined that a substance suspected to be cocaine was concealed within the religious item. The sender’s information retrieved from the package led to the arrest of Lisa Ramnarine.

Lisa Ramnarine, 23 of Hague, West Coast Demerara, was arrested and escorted to CANU headquarters, where the item was dismantled in her presence, revealing the suspected narcotics which tested positive for cocaine, weighing 540 grams.
